The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) is pleased to invite you to the 1st International Conference: Preventing diseases by reducing exposure to harmful chemicals, taking place on June 10, 2025, between 9 AM and 5 PM, in Novotel Warszawa Centrum Hotel, Warsaw, Poland. An online livestream will also be available.
We are pleased to inform you that the conference will take place under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
About the conference
Chemical pollution in the air, water, soil, food, and everyday products is on the rise, increasing the risks for people's health. Recent Eurobarometer data indicate that 84% of Poles are concerned about the health impacts of exposure to harmful chemicals. Despite growing scientific evidence on the links between chemicals and diseases, such as reproductive health issues, the development of obesity, diabetes, and even cancer, policy action remains insufficient and needs to be strengthened to better protect our health.
This conference will bring together European and Polish experts, scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss the urgent health impacts of harmful chemicals. It aims to build capacity, raise awareness, and foster collaboration among decision-makers to drive action at both national and EU levels.
Speakers include Dr. Maria Neira, World Health Organization; Dr. Ian Marnane, European Environment Agency; Prof. Philippe Grandjean, University of Southern Denmark, Dr. Aleksandra Rutkowska, Medical University of Gdansk and DetoxEd, Christian Horemans, National Federation of Independent Health Insurance Funds, Belgium.
